David Bafumi, AICP

Associate Planner

As an Associate Planner, David primarily works on current planning projects. His experience includes reviewing proposals for new single-family homes, additions, ADUs, landscaping projects, tenant improvements, and business licenses.

David has also contributed to long-range planning initiatives in several jurisdictions. His long-range planning experience includes drafting objective design standards, contributing to client meetings, staffing community engagement events, designing maps, and creating promotional videos.

Before his time at Good City, and while completing his master’s degree, David worked as a planning intern for a local municipality. While a student, David also interned for Fehr & Peers, assisting a transportation study that supported the design of a shuttle program at Big Basin Redwoods State Park. David previously worked as a Residential Planting Coordinator for Our City Forest in San Jose and worked for over 5 years as a teacher and soccer coach in Connecticut.

In May 2024, David passed the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) exam, earning him the AICP Candidate designation. David holds a Master of Urban Planning degree from San Jose State University (SJSU). At SJSU, he earned advanced certificates in Community Design and Development and Applications of Technology in Planning. As a master’s student, David was awarded a California Planning Foundation (CPF) scholarship and an SJSU Department of Urban and Regional Planning scholarship. David previously earned a Bachelor of Science in Urban Planning, a certificate in GIS, and a minor in Sustainability from Arizona State University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and a minor in Spanish from Arcadia University.
