ALUCP Conformance and Zoning Ordinance Updates - San Carlos
|
Good City Company led an update of the City’s zoning ordinance to ensure conformance with the Airport Land Use Compatibility Plan (ALUCP) for the San Carlos Airport.
California law requires compliance with the ALUCP requirements to protect the health and safety of people who live and work in the vicinity of the airport, while ensuring smooth operation of air traffic, and includes four key compatibility factors: safety, noise, airspace protection, and overflight. This project included researching the requirements established in the ALUCP, preparing draft zoning text amendments, coordinating with Airport Land Use Commission (ALUC) staff, preparing application materials for review by C/CAG acting as the ALUC, and preparation of revised zoning text. Amendments were adopted by the City Council of San Carlos in December 2023. The project also included preparation of a detailed checklist to be used by applicants and staff in the preparation and review of submittals. |
